Now this is what you call a stellar line up...it's as if the entire Rock 'n Roll hall of fame popped in to help with the jam.

The early seventies line up when Clem Clempson had replaced guitarist Peter Frampton.

And here's Steve Marriots little girl.

Headbangers of the world unite.....

Title track from the LP.

Badfinger had a big hit with this Paul McCartney song.

Now this is something special. It takes real bravery to stand up on that stage with possibly the greatest blues guitarist of all time, one of the greatest live performers of my time, and strut your stuff as a young performer. And she makes it, to his obvious approval. I've got some catching up to do on this young lady's back catalogue, methinks.

Now you mention it, she'd be great opening for Walter Trout.

BTW, I've just got a ticket to see her next March. Still costs peanuts.

A proper Rock Anthem to start.

Superb cool jazz from Nina Simone

Another anthem.

I love this version of a soul classic.

Anthems are nothing new...from the 7th, this one is almost as famous as the 5th.

Going to see this guy later this year.Smile

This was always my favourite track on Hejira, which I still have on vinyl, but this slowed down and slightly jazzy live (filmed) version is just gorgeous. One of the 20th century's greatest sonwriters and what a voice she had.

This may well already be on here somewhere but ok, lat's hear it again. I just tripped over it, (no pun intended!), on YouTube and My God! This was superb on several bases, not least the amazing lyrics.

Looking at my vinyl copy of Disraeli Gears, the parent album of this song, I was surprised that it wasn't written by the usual pairing for their wonderful 'psychedelic' songs, Jack Bruce (music) and Pete Brown (lyrics). Instead, it was written by Eric Clapton and an Australian artist, Martin Sharp, whose name I didn't recognise. I put that right by reading his Wikipedia entry, linked here: If you were around in the 1960s (or just like the music and antics of that amazing decade) then it's well worth reading for the things that he did then.

There's just something about live music, particularly when you're actually there and can see and feel part of the experience. This clip is a good example of all that. Real talent, right there. Her song. Her voice. Her emotion. Her playing of the piano. Her little mistake. 'Cos she's human, just like us.

Someone recently told me that they'd not got into Halestorm because they're too heavy for them. Well, that's not always the case, as shown in these two or three clips, starting with the previous post, above. Here's another...

I've gone all mellow tonight as befits a supporter whose team sits top of the league.Smile
Here's an instrumental blues from the "Super Session" LP

I posted this song a long time ago and it was taken down by the publishers so I'm putting it on again. I was reminded of it because two of the musicians on the previous song featured on this.
The ultimate put down song.

Late night listening music from ELP.

The late Aretha Franklin showing the rest how to sing soul/blues.

Written by Warren Haynes...Greg Allman lead vocal.

Can't get much more mellow than this.Cool

Wakey Wakey

Jazz funk from CTA. Proper chill out listening music.

A solo effort from Scott Walker.... a cover of a Bacharack and David song original recorded by Dionne Warwick. I wasn't a particular fan of the Walker Brothers who had hits singing big ballads in the sixties and seventies. But this one cropped up on a compilation CD I have and over the years it has grown on me to such an extent that it's now one of my favourite songs. A bit vague I know but it's actually a Vietnam war protest song.

Great early sixties from the lovely Doris Troy.

Sticking with my sixties theme, here's a bit of Northern Soul.
