Bigsmile...just love that song. From the first LP I ever owned: Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-75. Our hamster chewed the bottom corner off the album cover (and a few others) when let out for a run the other week Grr. He's lucky I've let him stay alive...

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

The Byrds came to prominence in the 60's doing Dylan covers with their own distinctive sound, fronted by Jimmy (Roger) McGuinn's jingle jangle twelve string Rickanbacker. I just love this version......(thinks) "this could be Emres anthem for Samedo"Bigsmile

Which he copied from Harrison's use of it on, 'A Hard Day's Night', apparently.

They started so much that followed and is now forgotten.

My dad took me to the pictures to see the film when I was ten. When the sodding adverts finally went off and the titles came off, we all sat back, looked up, (full sized cinemas back then, not the tiny things that followed), and were almightily SMOTE by that huge chord at the beginning of the song. And I was hooked for life.

I could have picked worse! (Turn it right up first!)

Do put up with me for one more track from then; the next one from the film. Which features a lovely young 'schoolgirl', sat in the guard's van with them, who later grew into the woman who inspired the classic songs 'Something', (The Beatles), 'Layla', (Derek and the Dominoes), and 'Wonderful tonight', (Eric Clapton): Patti Boyd / Harrison / Clapton.

God, she was lovely.

Sorry, me again! Just found a reight classic clip: a song deleted from the movie.

(Oblige me: you've got to like rock and roll to be here in the first place.)

This is my favourite song of all the early Beatles' stuff: a classic, strident Lennon 'put-down' song. Look at him in this: he really was the Leader of the Band then: a reight cocky bastard, 'the man who stood alone', but bloody good!

As a youth I was in the Stones camp, The Beatles, were the girlies choice and I was a rebel without a pause at that time. However, I still listened to the early albums and bought "With The Beatles" when it came out, adding the first album shortly afterwards. Little did we know when we got to "Abbey Road" that we were listening to the very last of what was recorded by the four of them together, especially, as we had the earlier recorded "Let It Be" still to come. In retrospect, I now realise just what a special album this was. Has there ever been an album with a better out-track than this?

Having said that, I think that by this time John's input was minimal and what we are hearing is the start of Wings.

I love old fifties Rock 'n Roll and one of my favourite films is "Christine" about a possessed and malevolent 1958 Plymouth Fury.....it's taken from a Steven King book and directed by John Carpenter. The soundtrack to the film is pure nostalgia. I found this sampler on YouTube....a must see film.
