Ozzie rockers Tracer are in Sheffield (The Plug) on 28/4 and it's only eight quid a ticket. And I'll be at sodding Brentford!

They're touring their first proper album, 'The Spaces In Between". This is the title track:

You lucky man....the "Plug" is the worst shithole I have ever had the misfortune to have visited. They can't be much of a band if they have accepted a gig there.

Never been. And it's their first ever headlining tour, so no doubt they'll play where they're told! And it might explain the 8 price.

BTW, looking at some of the other acts to come there, it seems to have taken over from the closed Boardwalk.

A few weeks ago, I was taken to a flea pit down town called "The Plug" to see a live band. I'd rather have a vasectomy without anesthetic than go there again. The acoustics and the amplification were in open hostilities and there was a supporting band on who were......sorry lads......the worst, crappiest excuse for an act that I have ever heard. I was served some slop that passed for beer by a rather dim young man with jeans that clung just above his knees, who didn't understand the concept that a pint should be a pint....and not what was left in the (plastic) glass after he had spilled some on the counter. What appeared to be urine..(female?) was running across the "dance floor" and what bit of carpet was in the place clung to your shoes tenaciously if you dared walk on it.

Now I may be showing my age here but if that is what passes for a live music experience, then I'm afraid it will die in this town. Bring back the Boardwalk!

Anyway, this is how a live band should sound.

This was my entirely unbiased report on the venue back in September.Wink

Hardly a new band, but new to me last Sunday night in Nottingham, where they played a double-header with The Union, The Answer (from County Down in Northern Ireland) are a tremendous live rock and roll band. The front man, Cormack Neeson, is incredible. When that boy fell out of the rock and roll tree, he bounced off every branch. The only thing he didn't do the other night was handle serpents!

I thought that by now i'd seen it all, but at one point he was in the centre of the big, rocking crowd and got down on his knees singing. He got around half of the audience down on their knees too, all around him. I was looking down from stairs at the back and it looked like a giant funnel!

If you get the chance to see these live, even if in theory it's not your music, grab it. They are a great night out. And such value! Fifteen quid for three bands on Sunday at Rock City: three and a half hours!

This one is more accurately a band I'm RE-discovering after many years. They hadn't produced a studio album in nine years but WOW, where've they got this tremendous, bluesy, raunchy new sound from, and a record full of top songs to boot? Low down and seriously dirty riffs, a new husky vocal sound: welcome back, boys!

If you knew them before and weren't that bothered, don't just write this off as more of the same. Give it a listen. This is so loaded with great sounds that I'm putting more than one up. Enjoy!

I'm surprised you didn't mention the silliest fact about the group...the one without a beard is called Frank BEARDLaugh

Drums have their own echo chambers, so he doesn't need a beard.

Obvious, innit?
