That is just magnificent. And not due to the presence of my favourite ever player, Mr. Guy. Superb.

That is so much closer to the Stones version than the original that I heard from the Wolf.

What an immortal Willie Dixon song that is.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

Blind Willie McTell, with one of my favourite song lyrics:

Eight crapshooters to be my pallbearers
Let 'em be veiled down in black
I want nine men going to the graveyard, bubba
And eight men comin back

OK, it's a bit scratchy, but the sound quality doesn't diminish the power in Bessie Smith's voice. If Billie Holiday was the Queen of the Blues, Bessie was the old Empress!

That really didn't need those discordant trumpets! I prefer the killer original at post number 12, above.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

On that clip, EC is sat in the same hotel room in Dallas where Robert Johnson recorded the original version in 1937.

Jorma Kaukonen, like Clapton, is a real student of the old pre-war blues, and one of the finest guitar players around.
