A guy called Mick Jones, no not he, has just produced a book of his old photos of Sheffield in the late 60's / early 70's. Have a look here on Facebook

I quite like this picture of the Hole in the Road with the old YEB building in the background along with the old Walsh's

The one sad thing for me in the smart redevelopments mentioned was the loss of the Adelphi Hotel. The historic building roughly where the Crucible Theatre now stands, that hosted the classic meetings over the Victorian decades that saw the founding of Sheffield Wednesday F.C., The Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Sheffield United
F. C.
That would have had a few placques and sporting visitors now if it was still there today! Sadly I don't remember it.

Don't know where the Durham Ox got it's name but I'm sure I had a pint or two in there, Didn't there used to be a chip shop at the side of it as well? Sure I sampled the Fishcakes there. Some great pics there guys.

The Durham Ox is still standing, but it's been long derelict now. It's just up the road from another pub that's been closed for years, Ye Old Harrow. Can't remember what the road's called, but it's the first left off the Parkway Roundabout when you come off the Parkway itself.

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

The sharp left that goes up towards the Cricketers and then drops down under the parkway?

According to wiki

The Durham Ox was a steer who became famous in the early 19th century for his shape, size and weight
........

The impact made by the Durham Ox is reflected in the large number of British pubs named after him, and the town named after him: Durham Ox in Victoria, Australia.

I'm not going to post a link to the cvnt but good riddance to the evil piece of shit. At least we won't have to fund another luxurious Christmas dinner for him.
