About time we had a dedicated thread to one of my favourite subjects...eating and drinking. If you've had a particularly memorable meal, tried a superb beer or terrific takeaway...let us know about it so we can all give it a try.

I'll start the ball rolling (or the belly rumbling) with a recommendation for the best Italian food this side if Milan. They're based in York and Beverley, are very authentic and offer al fresco dining all year round. Very reasonable pricing and with a loyalty card you can get 10% off that. Top cocktails too...they sell Mojito by the jug.Smile

Nosh and splosh? Sounds like a night with a lass I used to "know"......

That's a negative ... and right now I need two positives: one to cancel out the negative ... and one just so I've got a positive

I've been to the Beverley one and can thoroughly recommend it. Especially the Mojitos Pinch

This is the last time I'm painting on a grin.

450 Above, in Wickersley.
Owned and run by a fellow Owl, Jez Ward, and featured in The Times top ten hidden gems outside London.
Does a 5-10-5 menu. Fiver for starters and deserts and a tenner for your main.
Very reasonable wine list and beer prices as well.

If you want a table on a Saturday, though, be prepared for a month wait.

2 curry house recommendations, both on Ecclesall Road - Ashoka and Ambar....simply sublime food.

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

The Raaz in Chesterfield is a very nice Indian, not your standard chicken korma and onion bahji fayre.

That's a negative ... and right now I need two positives: one to cancel out the negative ... and one just so I've got a positive

Taste of India in Penistone, recommend it very very highly, reasonably priced too!

Went for a bevvy at the Bridge in Thurgoland the other night, just re-opened, nice little spot, do snap as well but I've yet to try any.

Smoke BBQ in town is ridiclously good have to ring up start of the week for a weekend booking and sometimes then youll struggle , Nothing fancy just proper meat fest i love it there reminds me i need to go again

Heres the menu http://smoke.a.cdnify.io/wp-content/uploa ds/2014/05/main_menu0514.pdf

I can vouch that the chilli cheese burger & Pulled pork and BBQ chicken plates are worth trying

Walked past there the other day and the smell nearly drives you mad. I'll make this my first priority for visiting as I'm a bit of a carnivore.Smile

Smoke Barbeque is immense - the brisket and pulled pork are both gorgeous.

On the drinks front had a good night down Eccy Road on Saturday - not been for years. Did the new place The Pointing Dog (ex Polish Club), Porterbrook, Porter Cottage and Lescar.

agree with Ambar not the Ashoka, currently using the Maazi Hathersage bit pricey but better than the usual fare
