Just gone through first series of Billions and fucking loved it, Damien Lewis really is a top notch actor.

Watched some French/British series called Spotless recently too and definitely worth a watch just for the tits on show.

Started on Ray Donovan today so will get back to you.

Any tips or recommendations?

Both series of True Detective make for great viewing if you haven't seen them.

The first series is darker and perhaps more powerful, with some superb acting from both McConaughey and Harrison. Keeps you guessing all the way through, and just about every episode is like a mini film. Plenty of hairs on the back of the neck moments.

I didn't find the second series to be quite on a par, but then it's a more familiar gangster type of plot so I didn't find myself saying "there's some fucking weird shit going on" as much as I did watching series one. Still excellent though and got to be an 8-9/10.

Films wise I watched Sicario recently. Good film. Again, about the dark side of America.

That's a negative ... and right now I need two positives: one to cancel out the negative ... and one just so I've got a positive

Well worth a watch pal. I also echo Dogtown's recommendation of True Detective especially the first series.

I caught one episode of that, somewhere in the middle I guess, seemed pretty good. Decided to wait and watch the whole box set, which you've now reminded me to do.

Ray Donovan is very good. Jon Voight is fantastic and the character he plays is too. Eddie Marsan, who plays Ray's brother Terry, is one of the best actors on the planet imo.
I seen him in a mini series a few years ago and he played a bookish type character and he seemed 20 years older than he is, thoroughly convincing. In this he's a grizzled ex-fighter, in a lot of pain and again, is thoroughly convincing. Same in anything else I've seen him in.

Anyone who has never seen 'Peaky Blinders' needs to get watching it now. From the start of course. Set post WW1 in Birmingham, the Peaky Blinders, having returned from fighting in the trenches, were a gang of semi gypsy like gangsters, involved in illegal bookmaking and other crimes. Great series (I've not got round to watching series 3 yet) and the theme tune is superb.

Ray Donovan is ace.

Try La Serie Gomorrah, Bosch, The Man In Tje High Castle (last two on amazon prime)

a little older, The Shield and Deadwood are amongst the best TV ever.

The Wipers Times is being repeated tonight on BBC 2 at 9 o clock.
It's the true story about a satirical magazine printed in the trenches.

Things I'm watching this week:

Ordinary Lies
The Apprentice
The Level
The Walking Dead
Football: The Championship
X Factor and Strictly (I'm not ashamed to admit it!)

Did anybody watch 'The Night Of' on Sky Atlantic? It finished last week and is one of the best series I've seen in ages. Just brilliant.

Narcos is one I'm really enjoying at the moment. All about Pablo Escobar and events surrounding him in Colombia. Very good viewing, and based on real events.

The Night Of was excellent although I've since been told it was a British series originally shown on the BBC so I'd be keen to see the original version.

I've found Cold Feet surprisingly watchable.

Also subscribed to Netflix to watch the supreme Black Mirror.

I wasn't aware it was based on a British series so just looked it up & it was called 'Criminal Justice' shown in 2008. I really can't remember if I watched it or not.

Going back to 'The Night Of', I don't want to post any spoilers but that final shot before the credits, made my day. Smile

Yea it was brilliantly done throughout and a really good cast. I was actually disappointed to learn it was a 'one-off' series before I'd reached the end as I thought there was plenty of mileage for several series but it was fantastic in its own right.

Homeland, The Night Of, Billions and Ray Donovan are all good as mentioned.

Surprised nobody has suggested Banshee?

Westworld has been decent so far too.

I was expecting 'Westworld' to be more similar to the original film than it was.

I just found it very confusing.
