If they can't afford them in Kensington Pinch
Karl Marx's Mouse, 14/06/2017 at 17:47

Costs £200k apparently to fit one in a tower that size. Kensington and Chelsea council has cash reserves of £209 million, and gives council tax rebates every year.

On BBC site, reported by Daily Mirror, we'll see accuracy, but supposedly people in hospital are being treated for these symptoms.

600 other high rise buildings thought to have the same cladding on as Grenfell Tower...

It's being removed from some blocks already

Stable doors and horses spring to mind.

For the Grenfell Tower residents and their families, that's all too horribly true. For those living in the 600 tower blocks, it's just in the nick of time.
Appalling (but all too typical) that so many had to die for the authorities to do what they should have done in the first place. The people who signed off on such dangerous products being bought and fitted should be receiving their P45s at the very least.

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

Do you think there'd be the same response if it had happened in Cumbernauld or Hartlepool?

Given 70+ deaths probably, this is Herald of Free Enterprise and Piper Alpha territory.

Got to agree with that.

I was reading this morning that some of the Travel Inns (I think) have a similar cladding on their tower block premises. Not good

Its now or never

Camden evacuates tower blocks at short notice over fire risk.

27 blocks in 15 council areas have so far failed tests.

There has been a mad rush over the past few years for governments and councils to display their green credentials for political reasons. Insulating homes was one of the ways they chose. But typically, they nipcheesed on the quality and safety once the political message had been sent.
The law of unintended consequences strikes again.

Seems as if someone has lied to Sheffield Council about what cladding has been used, not that agreed upon and less fire resistant. Having said that it doesn't seem to have been double checked by the council.
