I take no pleasure knowing families livelihoods and homes maybe at risk a few weeks before christmas.

Not a time to gloat IMO, there'll be some good people worrying about how they'll pay the rent in January. Doubt most are on anything like mega money.

2019/20, the promotion party starts now!!!!

If the Stir wasn’t so one sided and full of snipes, I’d buy it. No wonder it’s gone down the shit pan

Be water, my friend

I think the majority will own their own homes, if in fact you're referring to their housing costs.

Seriously.

Perhaps if the Stir had actually employed journalists - not social media churners ; had developed a readable click bait free website; and weren't so virulently anti Wednesday then I'd have a modicum of sympathy.

Brought it on themselves, not been worth reading since Richard Fidler left.

The Group as a whole has £220m worth of debt and they basically can't give the company away as that debt is repayable next summer. Biggest problem is its a dying business model

You may be like me Kev, if there was a usable website, decent non-partisan journalism I'd probably pay a fiver a month to access the site.

Lucky if you can even get star website to load, if it does some big banner pops up. If you're unlucky enough to get past them you get an article.

The Pension Protection Fund said it had “concerns” over a rescue deal for Johnston Press that would enable the ailing newspaper publisher to hive off its pensions liabilities to the industry lifeboat fund. The fund is preparing to assess the scheme after a weekend deal known as a pre-pack administration, which allowed Johnston Press to shed its pension liabilities as part of a sale to its creditors. The PPF has estimated the scheme’s deficit at £109m.The PPF is concerned that the administration took place 48 hours before the company was due to make a scheduled contribution to the pension scheme, according to people with knowledge of the process. It is also looking at whether assets within the Johnston group were marketed appropriately as part of the administration. “We have concerns surrounding the circumstances of this pre-pack administration,” said a PPF spokesperson.“We will continue to work closely with the Pensions Regulator and the company administrator to ensure the best outcome for the PPF and our levy payers.“We want to reassure members of the Johnston Press Pension Plan that their benefits are protected by the PPF at what must be an unsettling time for them.”The PPF said it had raised its concerns with the regulator.
