If you don't think fully fit Woodgate and Ledley King would have been pushing Ferdinand and Terry for the England CB positions instead of Upson & Carragher, then you're even thicker than i thought.

I really enjoyed Woodgate's debut for Real Madrid. A bit Alan Harperesque.

To be fair, RM wouldn't have signed him if he wasn't top quality? Certainly a lot better than many CBs that got way more England caps. I think Real just misjudged the extent of his injury problems.

They sued Newcastle, IIRC, over the treatment they gave him

Didn't King play centre mid for England in a few games as a holding midfielder?

What did for Woodgate was the FA banning Sven from picking him for the 2002 World Cup squad whilst he was still in court for his involvement in the smacking of that Asian lad outside Majestics.
Sven had to take Wes Brown instead. He did pick Woodgate for the first friendly after Japan and has openly said Woodgate was the best positional centre half of his generation and a fit and available Woodgate would have allowed him to play three at the back and been more attacking.

Someone's been on the loud juice.

Be texting the ex-wife and kids in a bit, before falling asleep in a pool of his own piss on the sofa

He did with Spurs quite a bit, as well, early in his career; mostly under Graham, but Hoddle used him there, too. He was Spurs' best player on the pitch in either role.
