That's probably our best strategy rather than continue to struggle on with a team and squad clearly not good enough to go up.

Give Monk this season to embed his system and work with the players while we take the deduction hit (assuming the fine isn't crippling). In the summer we can get rid of most of the dead-wood and then re-build a more capable squad to have a real go at automatic next season (with seasons 2 and 3 as backups). Our league has been wide open for the last few years, which makes it all the more frustrating and hence why Ushited got up with a pub team playing a smart attacking system led by a very good manager.

None of this try and get in the playoffs on 1-Nil'ers nonsense, lets build a squad who are capable of going out and beating teams 2-0/3-0/4-0 on a regular basis using a new 3-year budget. It's time to just go for it!

And a healthy, competitive turnover of players, keep everyone on their toes, this harvesting of players doesn’t work.

SACK MONK NOW!!!! OH, AND FUCK THE EFL!!!!

100% - hopefully the recruitment team Bruce left behind would help this time around.

Insisting Monk doesn't use his previous agent contacts would be sensible also.

Two bits of news. Something I’ve heard and something I’ve read.

I’ve read that Mel Morris has just about finalized a deal to secure more investment in at Derby.
I’ve been told today that we’ve been warned that if guilty, it will be a record punishment. The words I was given were ‘relegation guaranteeing’. And a potential further embargo for multiple windows.

Club thinks we’ll be fine still though.

If the rumour is true it would surely compel DC to go all in and try and bring the EFL down with regards to the incompatibility of the rules with the normal world of business, i.e. restrictions on trade.

I’d love to say that’s the case. But, it’s voted on year on year by the clubs. For it to be passed it has to receive 75% of the vote which it has done every year since inception. And no-one would vote against it, as above all else, it levels the playing field. The only people it disadvantages are clubs with billionaire benefactors, and there aren’t many of them knocking about in the second division. So, the EFL members would still vote against the removal of it.

Not a witch hunt AndyBen. The EFL clearly feel they have a fraud cause here.
