I believe that when you commit treason or become an enemy combatant against British Forces, it's people or interests, then your rights as a citizen should be revoked.

Apparently some of the lads who jumped on top of him were ex-cons who’d been to the same event as him at Fishmonger’s Hall...

I support bringing them home. And then putting them in prison for a long time for joining Isis. This is because they’re British citizens...who deserve putting away for a long time. Hardly the most complicated argument is it?
OWL71, 29/11/2019 at 23:02

At what cost?

I'd rather leave the fuckers where they are and use whatever it costs to keep them in jail spent on those in need.

Not sure the actual cost but I said that the two scum who got 30 odd years the other week would cost us 2m, fuck that, hangmans rope.

Prison whilst not utopia still offers food, bed, light and heat, medical care on tapb etc which some of us don't get.

Guardian attacking Tories over police cuts tonight. Classy
Andyben, 29/11/2019 at 21:55

You mean merely reporting what was said in tonight's election debate https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019 /nov/29/tories-criticised-over-police-cut s-in-wake-of-london-bridge-attack - if it's something else, it'd be helpful if you posted a link.

In any case, that the 20,000 cut in police numbers under the Tories since 2010 have had a hugely negative impact on the police's ability to deal with all crime, but especially serious and violent crime and terrorism is hardly beyond dispute. Why shouldn't the Tories be taken to task about it?

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

Completely agree, and I'd be saying that about whichever set of twats it was.

Not one or one hundred thousand more police officers would stop this.

It's the pricks making a career in defending terrorists and winning their appeals that should be vlamed

Twats like Joel Bennathan who even this morning brags about getting Khan's appeal through on his Chambers website

Your opinion, not a fact.

I'd venture that any police officer you ask would say that more resources on the ground for the police makes them much more able to prevent this kind of shit. Even Boris agrees - otherwise why is he promising* to recruit 20,000 officers over the next 3 years if he gets elected?

* As much as you can put any faith in anything he says.

Of Irish heritage yes, usually a Labour voter yes, and I have been a trade union member in the past. But you're making a very very wild assumption regarding my blindly supporting Corbyn in all his deeds and utterances. By the way, it's also wrong to assume all Irish people support the IRA or vote Sinn Fein.

Just thought it was unfair to drag him into this particular thread and posted what I did accordingly - which you appeared to broadly agree with at the time.

You can definitely make a case that British citizens who join Isis could be charged with Treason, which I believe still carries the death penalty? I still think we need to deal with them ourselves though, however we choose to do so. Revocation of citizenship is basically just trying to make them somebody else’s problem, and it is losing us credibility on the international stage.

Allowing them back after they’ve chosen to head abroad and fight against us is not on.

Obviously increasing the number of police officers would help. However, serving officers are frustrated from carrying out their duties fully. Certain procedures have to be followed regarding sections of the community. Not all members of the public are afforded the same treatment. Since we embraced diversity in our society the police's hands are tied and as a result of the increasing burden of paper/computer work to dot "i"s and cross "t"s many police officers are spending more time behind desks rather that outside on operations. It then becomes an easier option to target reasonably safer prosecutable activities such as policing football matches.
Finally after preparing casework for courts the police work is frustrated by solicitors exploiting loopholes and making defendants look like solid pillars of society with the "comes from a broken home" and many similar pathetic references. Therefore increasing the numbers of police will not have an effect unless more are out on the streets policing.

Fuck 'em. This city will always be ours.
