Just finished chatting to a lad close to Forest's first team set up and they've been told to prep for all remaining games to be played in June and playoffs to be one legged with finals weekend 2nd weekend in July.
Next season to start after early September international break.

We shall see

Can’t see it, this ain’t gong away fast and especially so if folk aren’t listening to the advice given.
What’s to stop a team struggling at the bottom have a player say he’s got the virus?
Season is over.

All players leaving on frees are still contracted to June 30th which is why they're trying to fit all the games into June.
Those teams and players who make the playoffs will have decisions to make but it'll be an agent's field day.

Delaying start til September will mean all transfer business done before start of season and a full pre season as well.
Might push the Euro's a bit in 2021 unless more midweek games are played in the league cup slots

EPL should call it a day for this season, no relegations, resume a new season at some point in the future and aggregate the points.

No promotions or relegations from Championship, L1, L2 and national league, aggregate the points.

It’s down to you now Garry!!! OH, AND FUCK THE EFL!!!!

Image the law suits if that happens.
Someone already quoting Bolton as an example.
Points deducted. All but relegated at Christmas but still playing L1 next season while the top 3 in L2 stay put.

I don't think this will be over by June. With swine flu it took about 6 months from the disease being isolated to a vaccine being available. I would expect this to be about the same, maybe a little bit quicker due to their being so many different Coronavirus vaccine projects going on around the world (about 35 apparently), and it being basically the only thing that's causing global stock markets to take a dump. So that would be probably June or July, but then there'll the length of time it would take to produce, distribute and administer. I can see mass gatherings starting again August or September, but there could still be a few months where you need to show proof of vaccination to be allowed in anywhere.

They could finish this season with games behind closed doors, but then for really important stuff there is the possibility of a situation like PSG or Valencia, where thousands turn up outside to celebrate. The best thing may just be to make this season null and void, and that's not just because of the obvious injustice of Leeds missing out on their PL return, the Pigs missing out on qualifying for Europe for the 1st time ever and the Bin Dippers being denied their first title for 30 years. Though all that stuff is pretty fucking funny.

I can’t see anything other than this season being null and void. Pretend it never happened.

For Bolton, start next season with a points deduction or not is a separate, and relatively minor issue. I’d say with deduction.

Whatever though, I doubt next season will start early enough to fit it in. This will be hanging over us well into Autumn, imo. Next season might be drastically reduced (play each team once?) and / or cup competitions cancelled.

Whenever it is safe to start playing again get the season finished.

Think the idea is to play on neutral grounds and play 3 games in a day until its completed. I still think they will just call it off, even playing behind closed doors requires ambulances etc no way will they let that happen.

Unless all the clubs had actually mathematically been relegated or won promotion I don't see how the leagues can determine that, the argument any club could put forward being well mathematically they still could have blah blah.

So cancelling and voiding can surely be the only way to go - if it doesn't resume, which seems very difficult for the reasons we've debated. We start again in September, tough on any club that was at the top of their respective league and a boost for those at the other end. I'd imagine there would be some clubs who would rather the season was closed now, apart from us wouldn't most of the clubs in the bottom half of our league want that and even in the PL if you could guarantee another season in the PL...

I'm thinking "you can please some of the people some of the time....". It'll show us just how biased the PL EFL etc really are.

If they void the season there will be no promotion or relegation, so there would be a saving to the PL of parachute payments. There's more chance of Jeremy Corbyn laying flowers on Margaret Thatchers grave than them giving that up to the lower leagues.

They just can’t bring themselves to accepting the inevitable: season over. One way or another.

If last season is void, wouldn’t the teams relegated last season (18-19) just get year 1 parachute payments again, those relegated 17-18 year 2 payments etc. ?

We are about to witness curfews and militia on the streets to enforce this. Looting will be rife, as will knife crime, and folk will get shot for hiding a loo roll inside a loaf of bread.

Accept it. Football is the least of our priorities right now.

If it can’t be completed it should be deemed void with no promotions & relegation. How can you award stuff without all the games being played, some teams have played more games than others for example.

Watching the Liverpool and Leeds fans in melt down is also an added bonus!

If we do resume when realistically will the season end thus having a knock on effect.

Season 20/21 would need to finish on time for Euros. Say new season started October then how about splitting each division in 2 based on previous placings.

Becomes a mini season of 22 games for example in Championship. Top and bottom of each get promoted and relegated and second and third in each go into Play Offs. Both 11th places have play off to settle third relegation spot.

Each Division including Prem can be similar with Top in each in Prem playing off for title.
.
These games plus League and FA Cup would fit nicely.

Sorry, saved me thinking about CV

Work out the average points per game for the games played so far and apply it to the remaining games seems the only sensible option to me. Play the outstanding European and domestic cup games in pre-season, then next season could possibly carry on as close to normal as possible. Sadly it means Liverpool winning the PL, but it will always be tainted as being won by default

I just had an advert at the top of the page: Get your horoscope for 2020. Think that should be re-spelled 'Horrorscope'! Think I'd sooner pay not to know what this year will bring.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.
