Yellow Card

The football industry has obviously been affected by Covid-19. Differing circumstances can mean certain people aren't really required any longer and an overhaul of the business model is required.

The playing squad side of things is the single most important sector within a football club. Like it or not, success on the pitch raises screeds more revenue than winning an award for the best cup of coffee in the Premier League.

I would be amazed if every single club throughout the country wasn't sacking people. It's simply about who wishes to announce it first and take the flak. Then, when others make similar announcements in the coming weeks, they'll undoubtedly get slated for 'jumping on the bandwagon' and 'using Covid as an excuse'.

It's not Arsenal's fault matches are being played behind closed doors. It's not Arsenal's fault punters are too scared to go outside and visit the club shop and it's not Arsenal's fault that the same punters can't afford to purchase a new strip because they've also been affected and are encountering a lack of funds in their pocket.

This is simply the tip of the iceberg...
EastCraigsOwl, 06/08/2020 at 11:13

Oh, yes it is. All things are Arsenal's fault.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

Well said Sir Salute

Football's no different to any other industry, I work for a large multi-national that's simultaneously recruiting and making people redundant, those being made redundant could have the jobs that are being recruited for, but they either don't want them or don't have the skills for them, much the same as a football club. I'm sure Arteta would have no issue playing Maureen from the club shop up top if she could match Aubemayang's movement and goal scoring

ironically I wouldn't trust Ozil in the Club shop

Happy clapping for 4 years more than Emre

Sad.

Might be worth starting a new thread, dedicated to closures, Tee. Hm

Used to go & watch them a couple of times a season. They're the father-in-law's team. Really good setup. Very sad

I dreamt about you last night & I fell out of bed twice

A club literally just down the road from another who just spent £41m on a defender makes it even more of a sad indictment of how things are.

I think decent folk working for Boots would.

If there's anything these troubled times have told us is that its not dog eat dog but having a touch of compassion that counts.

Anyone finding that quaint or amusing can go fuck themselves and hope to god someone cares about them in times of trouble.

Its just like fat cat directors paying themselves more whilst they lay off the tea boy. It stinks and as Skamp says. In current climate shouldnt be tolerated or done.
