Well my Bristol City mate just texted and said Bannan is quality.

Agreed, man of the match for me. Aided and abetted by Luongo and Lee.

I note that several have posted that they enjoyed the game. Just checking - is that allowed? Blush

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

We started a bit scrappy, lot's of high hoofed balls all over the park but settled down well and always looked the better side and created some good chances. Wickham is a different player to the one who came back to us at Barnsley. I wouldn't swap him for SF for this run in. Second half looked like when, not if we would get a second and as everyone has said crap decision from the officials for their goal. The really good thing was no sign of panic after it like we have been doing all season when we've got pulled back and we managed the game comfortably.

After a poor opening 15 mins the game became very watchable too and we put some good, confident passages of play together...all bodes well for the final seven games. One thing of note is that after we have had a good game and won in some style, there's been very little mention of the word Monk on this thread.

Iorfa panicked a couple of times right at the end.

Let's his game down often.

All three goals since the restart have come from Bannan free corners

Da Cruz v Forest.

Of course there are cracks, that's how the light gets in.

Said before that he always seems to have a mistake or two in him, but there is genuine quality that can be worked on in training. If he keeps his place then this time next year I'd expect him to become Mr Reliable

When he used that phrase, it meant anyone but Bannan taking them.

It appears Monk is having a look at Odubajo further forward perhaps with a view to wing backs or next season.

I’d have been far more comfortable him bringing Reach on and switching Harris to the right. We looked a lot shakier after Moses and Pessy came on.

We were good value overall though. Luongo and a recuperated Lee are making a huge difference

Johnson’s plan A appeared to be win free kicks off Afobe (especially) and Wells diving then pump them in to Baker in the box. They look a completely different side after selling Brownhill.

Thoroughly deserved win. We improved as the game went on and I thought Bristol City were largely clueless.

Interesting going forward as to what happens if Borner is injured (and Fox unavailable). Bring Lees back and move Palmer to left side?

Dad phoned at full time. "I had Bannan picked out as Man of the Match before Sky said it. He's so clever. I'd like to see him with better players around him." At that point, I almost hung up!

Wildsmith very good. Tremendous save first half, safe handling throughout and unlucky with the goal.

Top away goalscorers in the league again. Always worthy of a mention Smile

One other thing... why do subs not go off at their nearest side, as per the rule introduced? There's no safety issues by walking past the home 'fans'. Just seems very strange that refs aren't having a word.

There was a point in the first half where City cleared it and Bannan waved Murphy away so he could collect the ball. He was facing our defence but opted to take a semi circle turn and try and put the ball back in.
Murphy was facing forward and would have had acres to run into as the full back hadn't come out.
A couple of other times he stood on Harris's toes and even once on Nuhiu's, on the left, but Nuhiu elects to ignore him and pings a lovely cross field ball.

But other than that I thought Bannan was great today. He sat in the hole and controlled the pace. I only saw one cross field Hollywood ball and he kept the rest simple.

The important thing was we looked so much better with him doing that and him also allowing Lee and Luongo to go past him. Even Joey had an effective game because he had the cover around him to not have to chase out of position.

Good performance and good result

Solid that.

At times the passing was a bit sloppy, but I was more often frustrated with the receiving player (not being on their toes) as opposed to the player passing, maybe a bit of lacking in sharpness at times. However a little bit nit picking. I thought the ref gave some soft fouls and was on balance against us, like the yellow cards.

The next game will be a good test, assuming Borner won't be risk and Fox doesn't resign it could upset the defensive line up /positions to put Lees in.

That Wildsmith save probably made all the difference- good on him
