Strange one that game, thought we competed with them quite well until the 2 important parts of the game....finishing and defending!
I don't think we was that bad tonight either, just got punished, onto the next game.
Odubajo looks like he will make a mistake and cost a goal at any given moment, such a liability.

We will p*ss it

enjoyed the game apart from the result. We played well generally, was never a 3-0. Holly Moses though never a defender, he will cost us dearly can't mark or tackle, not too handy when you play at the back.

I'll never buy from AXA again!

Not the worst performance in the world. Just proved we're not good enough in key areas.

Thought the wing play first half was poor from the point that we kept stopping or making wrong decisions instead of just keeping going at them. It really showed for about a 5 minute spell in the second half when they got a few yellows for their desperate lunges. Not a problem with that. Just wish we weren't so shy about putting the boot in at the other end.

Corners were dreadful. Apart from the first one, which the indifferent Wickham flapped into the side net, I can't think of any which were particularly dangerous.

Odubajo - Christ. Needs must and all that but fucking hell...

Oh, and Adam Reach. Where are you? There was some bloke on the pitch wearing your shirt. That wasn't actually you, was it?

0-3 flattered them. We were in it in the 1st half. A bit like JP said on commentary, I thought let's not conceded when they got the free kick and hey presto they don't score directly but get a pen. It looked like it was a pen but I wasn't sure if he was originally pulled back but then threw himself to the ground after he realised he couldn't get to the ball - maybe that's why the ref hesitated. Shit ref again btw, never stopped the time wasting and general gamesmanship.

Second half was them imposing their "game management" we never really got the kind of pressure we managed in the 1st half, so can't really claim we deserved anything on our 2nd half showing.

One last thing, did anybody notice how Bilic just seemed to be wandering about where he wanted on the touch line. I think I recall JP commenting that GM was talking to the 4th official/ Lino during the 1st half, I wondered if that was GM complaining, I know I would have, but as usual the officials get star struck.

It was always going to be difficult to get anything off them, Swansea will tell us a lot more on where we're going. Thought we coped quite well though TBH as after seeing the initial defence I did fear the worse.

I'm gonna ask KM and Tys opinion here

Re Odubajo.

I thought he was unlucky for the pen but played well in the first 45 but he's the new scapegoat, he played left side of a 3 which must be alien to him and did a lot right.

The pen

I weren't convinced re the first foul, the ref looked to his assistant who didn't seem to flag, when he awarded it he indicated the decision was through the Mike which suggests the 4th official, I didn't realise that was his remit.

The Game

They began the brighter and held the ball but we came back into it and were the better side until that decision, stats at half time showed us with 53% possession, they had 60+% after ten which shows the change in dynamics.

Thought the sub at the break wasn't the best choice as Rhodes looked livelier than he had for a while.

They managed the game well second half through cynical fouls and took their chances.

Joe will be angry with the 3rd but shouldn't make Monk swap his keepers.

At 2 I'd have perhaps given Hughes and Brennan a debut (think we had 2 changes left still).

Of the 3 games back I thought this looked the better despite the result, their side is 2nd and littered with quality like Austin and Periera so take it on the chin and move on.

Bannan needs to be taken off corners as they don't offer a threat.

I thought we had acquired a decent player with Odubajo but somehow it hasn't worked for him here. There is a player there somewhere but currently we have not got the best out of him. No, I don't know the answer either.

Fuck 'em. This city will always be ours.

Agree with that. He won a lot of headers many wouldn't expect him to and made a terrific tackle in the second half which stopped what you could argue would have been a certain goal from Grosicki. I was annoyed at the pen, on second viewing it was a pen so although it took an age for it to be decided there's not much IMO you can argue against

What did people think of the opposition last night?

While obviously, they did what they needed to, to get the three points. I didn't think they were outstanding. They looked beatable. The cynical tackles were frustrating as hell, the one from Sawyers on Murphy was as much nasty as cynical. BUT.... We'd have taken them the other way round if we were winning.

West Brom are a classic Promotion team, probably in the mould of Burnley and Brighton over recent years. Strong in all key areas and pretty resilient as well as conversant in the darker arts.

Getting the first goal was key for us last night. We huffed and puffed and actually had some decent approach play last night but sadly missing that cutting edge. A crowd last night may have helped us.

We are down to the bare bones and felt for Moses last night as thought he had had a decent game up to the penalty. Must admit I thought he was a great signing and one I had hoped for since he starred for Hull but unfortunately it has not happened.

One to take on the chin and move on to Sunday when hopefully Borner will have recovered and maybe Windass back on the bench.

I thought WBA were garbage 1st half. I think we had 7 corners to their zero? However, we didn't really threaten and there wasn't much fluidity.
Our performance 2nd half was dire and it must have been one of WBA's easiest victories. I know Harris hit the post but the only real effort on goal which worried Johnstone was in injury time. When are we going to get a winger who can cross a ball?
