How many have scored hat-tricks in Premier League for us?

I never get why people think these two were bad signings. I certainly rated both
Beaconowl , 27/07/2020 at 17:09

Jonk was an excellent player. He played in a great Holland team. He just didn't give a shit about us after relegation. (Not alone there)
Hinchcliffe was a crock. He failed a medical at Spurs just before gold finger signed him.

The biggest "failed to sign" HAS to be Eric Cantona surely!

In the late Seventies we signed Ian Fleming a striker from Aberdeen (I think)

I think there is some in hindsight going on here.

I was happy /excited with quite a few of the names that were banded about on the thread, such as Abdi, Sinton, Blondeau, Jonk and even Bothroyd (well sort of), it's hard to know unless you are on the inside whether those on the inside should have known better,e.g. Hinchcliffes knee etc.

It's fair to say we've had some right dross in the last 20 years, but again some of those signed, particularly when we barely had two buttons to rub together I suspect we had few choices.

It's a big couple of months though.

It’s easy to be a genius in hindsight isn’t it, nobody can ever say Woods, Sinton, Booth, Blondeau (plus Jonk and Hinchcliffe as others have suggested) were bad signings on the face of it.

De Bilde, Sibon, Donnelly and O’Donnell were disastrous on their wages though. Even if they played to the maximum of their ability they were not worth the money. Rhodes and Winnall (an utterly pointless signing) similar.

I was buzzing when we signed Abdi based on ability so even he was a good signing on the face of it. I just think Watford had our absolute pants down, they clearly knew he was done and we obviously didn’t hold a proper medical, which in this day and age is ridiculous.

There were certainly some suggestions of this towards the end of his last year at the club - but it was all conjecture.

The club would have been entitled to medical insurance reclaim and surely it wouldn't have been kept under wraps. It rarely is in football, as you know.

Aye Almen Abdi read Owlsonline didn't he.

Wow you're full of so much hatred for this site and many of its posters, it's a wonder you post on here. Perhaps for your own sanity you should take a break.

He's still getting flak on here T. That's why people should give him some slack. The fact that he's not with any other club says something. If I heard he'd got cancer I'm surprised others didn't know. I certainly wouldn't make that up but you know as well as I do that, whatever I say on here, is challenged.

According to the Dutch Guys I worked with at the time .It was common knowledge in Holland that Wim Jonk never really liked playing outside of Holland and only joined us for a final payday

He didn't have to like it and whilst he wasn't the best, albeit showed signs of real talent a few times. He certainly wasn't the worst.
