Aside from the obvious being stated in the article...

Do we think Van Aken could be a good player for us now he's back?

He's too lightweight for centre back, but could maybe do a job at left back in a four. Lees was equally to blame for that shitshow against the pigs

He fits in the back 3 easy.

this, but needs a proper gobby shithouse in the middle.

Decent alternative to Borner

He fits into the 352 sysyem that Monk wants to play.

Got a decent left peg on him to be fair.

Depends if Monk prefers Borner on the left.

Got to be worth a try in a back 3 surely.

Vocal Centre Back most certainly required. Always liked Hutchinson at Millwall.

Proper shouty beast in the middle, Iorfa at RCB and Van Aken LCB.

Just can't see that working, Van Aken won't win his battles, which'll expose the shouty beast.

Of course there are cracks, that's how the light gets in.

He's played 16 times for us, in a side that was largely struggling. He can play the ball, and with Iorfa marauding forward from time to time in what seemed like a 'new' sort of role I think it might work in Van Aken's favour to do the same.
In a different system, with different players alongside him AND a different manager.

It'd be nice if you were right Tee...but we need a leader and once we have that I can't see Van Aken getting a game.
Shame and I hope I'm wrong...for what we paid I'd love him to do well.

Of course there are cracks, that's how the light gets in.

Didn't he have a horror show against Wigan first game of season a couple of seasons ago?

Love how we right played’s off on 16 performances always makes me proud of the fan base...

I recall the fan fair after his first 2 games as well..

Personally think he deserve a chance to stake a claim and people who want to hold performances against the player from over 2 seasons ago ... well you if that’s your view of the world ..

In a 3 he has a future here, that's based on seeing him play and knowing that's what he played over at Heerenveen.

Playing in a back four was alien to him but he came and did a job that had some on here salivating before the Derby day horror show, but he wasn't alone in being wank that day.

Agree that playing a back 3 should suit him. He can certainly pass the ball, but he needs to be physically stronger in this league than he has been.
I do seem to recall though that either stickvis or Ty said when we bought him that we'd signed the wrong Heerenveen defender.

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!

Wasn't good enough in German 2nd league. Wasn't good enough here hence played 16 times in 3 seasons. Only reason i see him staying if he's on low wages.
