I'm just wondering how a team that came 15th signing two players from the team that came 16th is going to get them promoted.

The fact some rate Fox is why this club will never move forward, the supporters are happy to accept mediocrity as its slightly less mediocre than the past.

How about showing some ambition and wanting things better on and off the pitch

You can come across a touch paradoxical in your views MK, on the EFL charge thread you're (fairly) admonishing the club for irresponsible spending, then here you're advocating showing some ambition which, given we offered Fox a contract and he signed for another team in the same division (presumably on better terms than we were offering), suggests we need to offer more money than we were offering a 'mediocre' player...which kinda flies in the face of your other point.

Fox was/is a below average Championship player who is young enough to improve. He’s left a current bottom third team, to join another current bottom third team.

We wanted to keep him.

We do have options, in a five we can play Harris, Reach and Penney. In a four, Penney and Reach, who based on previous evidence, and as a natural full back, are worse than Fox.

So, in short. If we want to not be a bottom third side, and will play a four, we need a left back. If we are going to persist with a five, we don’t, but we do need a right wing back.

Isn't it more recognising that a player who was awful at the start of his Wednesday career has improved no end, and looked like a very good player at the end.

Average his whole time at Wednesday out and your analysis is spot on; take it from when he started his upturn in form and I'd argue he's loads better than you're giving him credit for.

What does the future hold for him is the question. If he continues to play like he was, or even improves more then he'll be a loss. If he reverts back to more like his early Wednesday form then he'll be no loss.

It'll be interesting to see how he goes on at Stoke.

His awful start.

We came 4th.

His best season. We came 16th.

We've sunk to his level, he hasn't risen to ours...

This fans accepting mediocrity is a load of bollocks. The fans don't pick the team, the only person who accepts mediocrity is a manager who continually picks crap/under performing players.

Correct.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

Dunno about promotion but their manager seems to be their game changer, especially since they beat us at Xmas. Far from brilliant but they did well. Remember the 'bottom at Xmas' saying?

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

I think the concern with Fox is more that we are horribly weak at full-back. And it’s become a position we have to fill. Particularly at left back. The fact he didn’t sign is not an issue, it’s that we need to find at least one and possibly two full-backs depending on the system we play.

Our orthodox full backs are Penney, Palmer and Odubajo.

I agree with that. He played very well for much of last season: some tremendous tackles and blocks. Even some very good crosses. He was shite for most of his Owls' career before that, IMO. But so many of our fans will simply not give any credit at all to someone they don't like. (Don't like with considerable justification.) It's simply perverse.

We must not give opposition teams hope. We have to kill them.

That's terrifying. So is Iorfa at full back.
