The People' Assembly Against Austerity has discovered 8 Tory donors that, collectively, have won £881 million in 35 Covid 19 UK government contracts.

Combined they've donated £8.2 million to the Tories. So for every £1 donated they have averaged a return of £110 from contracts won.

Whilst not disagreeing with you Tommy, it's not that simple as the contract will have costs. That said it could be £45 per £1 I suppose.

I think you're confusing this £8m plus story with the millions received by the Kinnocks from the EU

Neil Kinnock. I bumped into him at a meeting in Cardiff in the early 1970s.He was banging on big time about the pending vote to apply or not to join the EEC. He was violently opposed to the idea of joining. Something seems to have changed his mind on for some reason.

Fuck 'em. This city will always be ours, but the club SADLY won't.

The one thing worse than watching a pig with it's snout in the trough is watching a socialist pig with it's snout in the trough.

Tommy, look at the other thread for details oj the allegations above. I should add that one of the purported cronies was also a labour party donor.

I'm happy to discuss this with you on an objective basis if you wish.

Whilst here, what do you think of what's happening in Liverpool, with the Mayor & Unison and the massive corruption.

Honest question, not leading or trying to trip you up at all.

I'm perfectly happy to admit that not everything is rosy on the left and I'd be a fool to think otherwise. I'll never forget some Labour MPs (Kinnock was one) and some union leaders saying that House of Lords should be abolished only to find themselves in there when their careers were over.
By the way, Corbyn would never have gone there (not that it would ever have been offered!).

I'm afraid corruption will always be with us whether it's on the left or right. Reading about Robert Maxwell at the weekend. Anybody more corrupt than him, However, you will always see me pointing out corruption in this government which is obvious for all to see whichever colour you are.

Thing is Tommy, those alleged examples in that report are miles off the mark, and are simply using the fact that the companies donated to the tories in the past as a way of shouting corruption.

One of the firms has supplied the government for over 30 years and is giving laptops/tablets/4g wifi dongles out, via the gov.uk website, at cost price to the Government & no cost to the families so that poor kids can work from home. Is this corrpuption - how can it be if its not making a single penny?

Another has a turnover of £5bn a year, supplying healthcare agency workers to countries all over the world, and has helped the NHS for years, its probably the best company in the world at doing this and the size of the contract is a pittance to it.

Remember last spring - everyone was rushing to find whatever PPE they could, of course there were scam artists, and the government are suing them - like with the furlough money, when you're as desperate as we and every other country was, you leave yourself open to scams.

Also, the most natural thing in the world is to use people that you know, have used before and can be trusted. We all do it, whether its a plumber/sparky or whatever.

What Joe Anderson did in Liverpool with Degsy and the rest for a number of years is real corruption. Going to prison for years type of crruption. Taking backhanders to give contracts to mates, employing their kids (one of which had just left prison for Murder/manslaughter) despite them not being qualified - its literally like an episdoe fo The Sopranos.
