1981/82 in England.
The other were the mid 90's from memory (without looking it up). I have a vague memory of loads of leagues changing at the same time.
The 1994 World Cup was the first with 3 points for a win.

Correct.

I’ll save the exact years of the others till later just in case anyone else wants a stab at it.

I’d just read about it and was surprised as my memory had all leagues going to it within a few years of each other.

Italy was 94 I think, I remember it coming in as back then I watched a lot of Italian football.

Also i think I read a few years ago that had it stayed at 2 points Blackburn wouldn’t have won the title the same year

Correct - season 94-95 for Serie A.

As a supplementary question. In their last two points a win season Milan won the title. In doing so how many goals did they score? It was a 34 game season.

Probably not many more as I remember stopping watching as most of the games were 1-0 either way. 44?

I only know because I've just looked it up ... but wow. And their 'goals against' number is even more ... er ... impressive. They must've been a real kick in the head to watch.

95-96 for Bundesliga and La Liga.

Milan scored just 36 goals in winning that title, and conceded 15.

I think it has been on the whole a positive move, compared to some of the other rule changes that have been made over the last 30+years. I wonder how we will look back at the introduction of VAR, it still needs some work does that.

The back pass rule was a similar era, wasn't it and that has also made an effect on the game, in terms of how or what keepers are expected to do/ perform.

I had a thing pop up on FB the other day showing the match between Dorbeh and L**ds when Franny Lee and Norman Hunter/ BB we're having a "disagreement" kinell they'd be banned for the season nowadays.

First season that 3 points for a win was introduced, Wednesday just missed out on promotion to the top flight.
Under the old 2 points for a win system, we would have gone up.
Typical!

Givens. Stein. Hopkins .Elliott .Unsworth.. Heroes, one and all. Add Simonsen to the growing list

A solid, rarely changing centre back pairing is the foundation of every successful team..... rotation and chopping/changing of yer centre backs NEVER works....FACT

Simple game innit.....

Costacurta played centre half alongside Baresi. Maldini was left back, Tassoti right back.

I ask you will Galway bate Mayo? Not if they have Willie Joe...they haven't a hope of beating Mayo!
