Do the EFL allow one off bonuses? Just wondering if Chansiri (and Morris) can offer an incentive to win and avoid relegation.
Chansiri could offer free merchandise up to £50 in club shop to every player.

Maybe if a couple of the players clubbed together they could buy a kit on timeshare.

Seriously, I'm assuming a bonus could have been included in contract if promotion was attained and that would be legal?
However, with an initial 12 point deduction, a bonus if relegation avoided could have been included.
Judging on recent performances (Cardiff excluded) it would suggest no bonus offered.

I don't profess to understand the complexities but contracts I don't think can be varied

Most EFL clubs will have promotion and relegation bonuses built into said contracts.

There is an accounting logic that says a conditional bonus is only recognised when paid out - and I believe most are settled in August. So you don't have the perverse logic of getting promoted, accounting for the bonus and then ironically failing FFP for that season and then getting a points deduction which means you aren't promoted after all

Happy clapping for 4 years more than Emre

I can't remember whether it was a Scottish or English club but, possibly a couple of years ago, there was talk of a club getting into bother for paying (or suggesting they would be paying) bonuses which hadn't been declared to the League authorities in advance of a certain date.

Did that actually happen or am I making it up?!

When the (now defunct) salary cap came in some League 1 clubs were opting to bypass the cap by paying end of season bonuses for clean sheets, goals scored, assists, appearances, etc, but paying these bonuses at the beginning of the following season so it didn't flag. Much like MK says.
Sunderland, Peterborough, Hull, were clubs I know of that were looking into signing players with this in mind.
There was also talk of doing a 'Saracens' and helping players invest in property and the like

I must be a bit old fashioned but fuck me, a bonus for not getting relegated.

I'd be looking to take money off them

Bonuses have to be agreed at the start of the season as far as I'm aware.
