The only good news about this is that it pisses off the 'big 6'

We will p*ss it

In what way? I hope so but it looks like all the powers that be are bending over for the takeover...not fussed that it's Newcastle....as long as it's not the pigs or those cowards 30 miles up the road...

Ok more it will not be the path to glory they think it will be. And like us Newcastle are quite good at messing up good news

They are so far ahead though, FFP will still impact the Geordies chances of success unless they get really clever accountants

I fully understand the joy of losing Ashley - the slightly disconcerting news is he is not bored of football - but the presumption of the slack jawed that this is a fait accompli be interesting to assess in 5 years

No problem with Newcastle and will be interesting if they have the ambition to challenge the top 4 who are miles ahead and how they go about it.

For all the money though if that side is true ultimately they are still in Newcastle. Can't see many top players wanting to go that far North. They will want to be in London or at a push Manchester. It will be mid level players after a big pay day they will attract. Your Van Der Beeks or Ndombele's or Tyrone Mings. Well unless Mbappe has ambitions to live somewhere like North Shields.

From a Managerial side surely they could not attract an Antonio Conte. After all they are in a massive relegation battle with no transfers for 3 months.

Apparently the new owners introduced themselves to the players/staff and told them they're looking to bring in some new faces...

Steve Bruce said "can I have one of them please?"

Is it like a thing in Newcastle that as soon as there's news you all get let off work early so you can go and stand outside St James's Park?

They can't all be unemployed surely?

Talking to a Geordie at work and he's deluded. Reckons Allegri is on his way and they've got a shout of signing Mbappe.

Hirsty is also right about attracting players. London is London. Liverpool and Manchester have the Cheshire belt what has Newcastle got. Owen used to come in by helicopter and Kluivert used to fly in from Holland on a private jet. They've always struggled.
If, in January, Lingard had a choice of Newcastle or West Ham where's he going?
They could get Carvani for two lorry loads of money and maybe a Watfordesque set up with Inter might help but the fan base is expecting huge and if the Saudis haven't spunked £400m and they're not playing Real Madrid in two seasons time then they'll turn on them. They now think the days of asking who the fuck is he when they've signed someone is long behind them now.

Even if they brought in some marquee signings I can't see kids around the globe wearing barcodes. Outside of their fanbase I don't see a commercial aspect. Who plays as Newcastle on FIFA unless you're sat there in your Ginola shirt with a controller in your hand

I think it’s going to be like the early days of Man City’s acquisition or when China was throwing money around. There’s a specific type of player that they’ll attract, players that they’ve heard of, who aren’t top tier, but want a top tier pay packet.

I also think they’re underestimating the potential backlash from all sides to the new owner. If he’d just taken over Wednesday, I’d be done.

Let us not forget Hirsty, Carlton, Flash and Kev Davies used to helicopter back for weekend piss ups in Sheffield for nights out from Southampton. Don't believe that will be an issue for Magpie players. Basic instincts drive players.Great nights out too in Newcastle.
