Carvalhal Departs SWFC

It seems Carlos Carvalhal’s dream is over as he has this morning left the club via mutual consent the club.

The club have announced that Carvalhal leaves after two and a half seasons in charge following the defeat to Middlesbrough at Hillsborough yesterday. The Portuguese head coach has had something of a fall from grace after being hugely popular with the Wednesday supporters after taking the Owls to the playoffs in two consecutive seasons and finishing 6th and 4th respectively in the Championship.

Lee Bullen will take charge of the team at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day before the club attempt to make a permanent replacement for Carvalhal.

In a statement, Chairman Dejphon Chansiri said: “I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Carlos for the time, effort and commitment he has given Sheffield Wednesday over the last two and a half years.
“Both parties believe the time is right to go our separate ways.
“I maintain a huge amount of respect for Carlos as a coach and as a person and he will always be welcome at Hillsborough.
“I wish him every success in the future.”
