Wednesday Get Luhukay

Wednesday Get Luhukay

On Friday evening the Owls announced the successor to Carlos Carvalhal, Jos Luhukay is the man who takes on the mantle left behind by the now manager of Swansea City.

The 54 year old Dutchman comes to Hillsborough after gaining a wealth of knowledge in Germany after managing the likes of Hertha Berlin, Stuttgart and Borussia Munchengladbach in the Bundesliga. He was known as the promotion expert in Germany after his exploits particularly with the club from Berlin and well, we all know his task with Wednesday will be to once again gain a promotion.

Luhukay didn't take control of the team in the draw at Carlisle in the FA Cup yesterday, but he will be in charge against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next Friday night. He has apparently confirmed to Lee Bullen that he will be part of the coaching team in the short term at least, but it's thought Luhukay already has his assistant ready to join him but it's not been revealed yet who that will be.

The new Owls' manager will be speaking to the press tomorrow at Hillsborough so we will no doubt hear more from the man who has said that coming to Hillsborough is an 'entirely new challenge'. In his first interview with swfc.co.uk, Luhukay said: “Sheffield Wednesday is exactly the exciting challenge for which I have been waiting. We shall now work together with all the staff at the club and the fans, to stabilise the team, and following that, improve it step by step with discipline, effort, commitment and creativity to take it up.”

We wish Jos all the best and hope he picks up the first of many victories in his first time in the Wednesday dugout in what will be a stern test for his side across the City on Friday night.
