Some Deals Extended… Some Not…

Wednesday have this afternoon confirmed that three players have agreed extentions to their deals to see out the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

We already knew that Kieran Lee had agreed to stay with the club in the short term, but this afternoon is has been also confirmed that Atdhe Nuhiu and backup goalkeeper, Paul Jones will remain Wednesday players.

However, more notable is that three player whose contracts are due to expire at the end of month, Fernando Forestieri, Steven Fletcher and Morgan Fox have all turned down offers from the club to play the remainder of the season with The Owls.

Forestieri's fitness was last weekend brought into question by Manager, Garry Monk, who said that was the reason he wasn't included in the matchday squad to face Nottingham Forest. Fletcher and Fox did feature in the squad, both on the bench, with Fletcher coming on but only to be replaced within a couple of minutes with an injury.

The Owls have confirmed that Sam Winnall and Sam Hutchinson will both leave the club at the end of the month when their contracts expire, with no extensions offered.

David Bates will return to Hamburg at the end of his loan period, however, talks are ongoing with the remaining loanees, Alessio Da Cruz, Jacob Murphy, Connor Wickham and Josh Windass to see out the season as Wednesday players.
