Another Addition To The Ranks

The Owls have this afternoon confirmed the signing of former Huddersfield Town forward, Elias Kachunga on a free transfer.

Kachunga, 28, is a DR Congo international and names Borussia Monchengladdbacj, SC Paderborn and Ingolstadt as his former employers along with the aforementioned Terriers from West Yorkshire.

Wednesday fans will recall that our latest recruit was on the receiving end of a comedy moment from former Owls midfielder Ross Wallace in the play off semi final in 2017. Kachunga was handed a piece of paper following a substitution in the play off game, and Wallace nipped in to steal it and sneak a look at the tactical change suggested by the then Town manager, David Wagner.

He scored 13 goals in that breakthrough season in England, as Huddersfield of course were promoted to the Premier League without scoring a goal of their own. It was the success in his initial loan spell at the John Smith’s Stadium which led to a full time move but since then, it’s fair to say he’s been in and out of the side before leaving at the end of his contract.

Elias joins up with The Owls head of this weekend’s first round tie in the Carabao Cup against Walsall in the Midlands, and could go straight into the squad.
