BRING IT ON - The Terriers

BRING IT ON - The Terriers

Huddersfield Town make the relatively short hop from West Yorkshire across to Hillsborough tonight. Lee Clark's side currently sit second in League One after defeating Walsall at the weekend. What do their fans expect? What do they think will happen tonight?

Well... We ask Town fan, Luke Simpson to......BRING IT ON?

1) What do you expect from the side this season?

General feeling is that the minimum expectation this season is promotion, whatever way we do it. Most think we should be getting automatic as the league looks weaker, and even though we've been pretty poor so far, we're on target as things stand.

2) Lee Clark seems to be well respected by the players and the fans, how far do you think he can take the Terriers?

He's your typical young manager really, pulls some things off and makes a mess of others. The majority are behind him and think he'll get us up this season, he'll continue to be given money to spend if we go up so fingers crossed we can continue progressing under him. If Blackpool have done it, anyone can!

3) You top scorer is a winger, is it a worry that your highest scoring player isn't a striker especially now Lee Novak and Alan Lee will be missing for a few weeks?

Some of our fans are worried about this, Pilkington is top scorer on 8, Rhodes (your goalkeeping coach's son) is 2nd on a good total of 6, but the rest of our strikers have only 1 goal between them. Rhodes is the only goalscorer and the rest are hard-working strikers, a bit like Kevin Davies/Paul Dickov.

4) The Terriers are getting a reputation for playing good flowing football, and are getting the results as well... BUT if the games weren't going your way would you sacrifice that for results?

We already have on a couple of occasions! We've scraped ugly wins against Orient and Walsall this season and they weren't pretty, but we got the points that mattered. We've not really played the good football we did last season as much so far to be honest so don't be expecting a 3rd division Arsenal.

5) If you could sign one player to fit into your side who would it be and why?

John Terry. Probably the biggest criticism of Lee Clark so far is that he's had nearly 2 years to fix the defence and hasn't done so yet. We could do with a dominant JT style of player that will sort things out back there.

6) Other than your local rivals which other team do you want to beat and why?

We don't get on very well with Southampton following plenty of banter during last seasons play off race, including their chairman attempting a ridiculous mind game of 'Stockport will be a tough game' when they were bottom and relegated long ago... Notts County will also be a feisty affair as Paul Ince and Lee Hughes are two characters we've never adored.

7) Any memories of games against the Owls, good or bad?

A mixture. Plenty remember seeing Andy Booth play against us, Boothy's a club legend (although we hear he wasn't too good at Hillsborough) so it felt a bit wrong seeing him score against us! We had a cracking derby game at the Galpharm in 2005, biggest crowd of the season there to watch us nick a memorable 1-0.

8) What do you know about Wednesday?

I know that you're not too keen on Alan 'negative' Irvine at the moment! I predicted you to finish 4th in pre season and personally think it'd be a bit early to sack him as you're only 2 points away from us in 2nd. I also know that your games are rarely goal fests and am not expecting that to change on Tuesday.

9) Team news?

Gary Naysmith out til next year. Gary Roberts out til the end of the month. Alex Smithies still a few weeks away. Lee Novak out for 6 weeks. Alan Lee suspended for 3 games. So that's probably good news for you, but we've got confidence in our strength in depth and have comfortably beaten Southampton and Colchester with a depleted squad.

10) Prediction?

1-0 Hudders. Very tight game, but we're confident for this one and a brief scan of your forum suggests you won't be up for it as much as ourselves.
