Wednesday Win The Race To Sign Hunt

The Owls have this afternoon announced the return of Jack Hunt to the club in a very positive move and one which makes a real statement of intent after the 30-year-old had been linked with moves to stay in the Championship.

Hunt, who was a popular member of the squad which earned their spot in consecutive Championship play off campaigns back in the reign of Carlos Carvalhal, before he left the club back in 2018 for a rumoured fee of around £1.8m with some suggesting it actually tipped the scales at £2m being the amount that Bristol City paid for his services.

After three years with the Robins, Hunt’s contract expired and former Owl, Nigel Pearson, decided against renewing the contract of the attacking full back. So in swooped Darren Moore, stealing a march on Hunt’s other suitors and he’s back as an Owl.

Speaking to SWFC.CO.UK this afternoon, Jack admitted there’s unfinished business for him at a club that he holds dear following those playoff defeats and he’s looking forward to his second permanent stint at S6.

“I had a fantastic time here, Wednesday are a special club to me, and it’s about unfinished business too,” He said.
“We came so close to promotion twice and that will be the aim again, this time from League One.

“I’ve been there before, I know what it’s all about and what to expect. The last time I was there it ended in promotion and that is the ambition now. I’m delighted to be back. There was interest elsewhere but once I heard of Wednesday’s interest and spoke to the gaffer the decision was easy for me.

“He’s told me how he wants the team to play, what he expects from me, and it suits me perfectly.”
