Borner Bows Out

It has been made official this afternoon that Julian Borner has left the Owls to return to Germany after signing a deal with Hannover 96 for an undisclosed fee.

Borner made 70 appearances for the Owls after joining in July 2019 on a free transfer and in his first season with the club, made quite a few friends with his determination and whole-hearted performance absolutely evident. However, it’s fair to say that his second season with the club wasn’t as successful.

The 30-year old left a parting message for the fans via the club’s social media channels which reads.

Dear SWFC fans,
I would like to say goodbye to you. It was a great pleasure to play for Sheffield Wednesday – especially because of you. It’s a great pity that the journey ends at this point, but I still enjoyed it and I still get goosebumps when I think of you singing my name.

Players will always come and go but you will always stay, you are Sheffield Wednesday. I wish you and the club only the best and I hope you get promoted as soon as possible because you deserve it. Stay strong and take care.

Thank you.
