Exclusive: Erik Alonso / WBD Sports Management

Earlier this morning The Athletic were reporting that The Owls chairman, Dejphon Chansiri had been in talks with Erik Alonso, President of WBD Sports Management about creating some sort of working relationship with the football club.

This evening in a short exclusive conversation with Owlsonline’s, Geoff Hatcher (@GeoffSWFC), Mr Alonso has confirmed that he has indeed begun the working relationship with the club and hopes it’s just the beginning of what will be a fruitful relationship with Wednesday.

“It’s time to work and bring Sheffield Wednesday to the best level.” Alonso said, who already links to the club on his personal Instagram biography.

WBD Sports Management who cite players from right across the world as their clients, with the likes of Marseille and France international Dimitri Payet and Liverpool’s Divock Origi amongst others as well as brokering deals with players from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Alonso says that it’s time to prosper with Wednesday who he says are missing their biggest asset at the moment much like almost every other club in the country at the moment. However, the time for talking is over and it’s time to put the words into action.

“We want to have great success, the fans are the biggest asset to the club so we must be with you and you with us. Together we can (achieve).” He said.

“Let us work, words are fine. We must prove it, I am here to do it. We are all a team.' But when asked if the partnership meant something more than that, Alonso's reply was simply, 'We are here to help.'

It's not yet clear what the relationship will entail between WBD Sports Management and the club, maybe more will be revealed over the next 24/48 hours, who knows?
