2023/24 Wednesday transfer thread...

@TheExile That's exactly it. Couldn't think of the phrase first off but you're right.

He comes off very flat footed. When Doyle collects the ball he's too far off for a start but doesn't close him down. He then just doesn't react when Doyle shifts feet. You can see him react almost after the shot is away.

Another one of those "The Star understands" pieces with liberal doses of "working behind the scenes".

Genuine questions Tee but when you were at Lincoln did you have to have a word with the local press over this sort of reporting or were you ever tasked with finding out who 'sources' were?

Tbh, the relationship forged by staff at the club with the local media was very positive. There were only a few leaks, because we were always quite transparent when appropriate. And it was a mutual understanding so, if there was anything, they’d ring and they’d largely respect things as we’d give them access when we could, as much as possible

We only really had issues with the Sun (shocking I know!)

So you never leaked a possible player transfer....😉

Röhl says there'll be a decision on Pierce Charles and if a potential loan move is what will happen in the next week.

I know you're from Barnsley but is there any need to butcher the English language any further.

Hayden rather than Coventry it might seem then. Toon recalled Hayden and loaning him back out.
I think I’d prefer Hayden but don’t know too much about either in all honesty.

Hayden was quality but he’s not been able to shake off injuries. A typical Wednesday signing. Can only assume Coventry didn’t want to leave London

I know we ended up with Hendricks because the Hayden deal fell through but are we sure it's us that's back in for him?

Pigs, Blackburn, and Preston have all made official enquiries.

We can have two players aged over 23 from the same club.

Seems the Coventry deal didn’t fall through because of money. Game time guarantees more of an issue.

He's joining Charlton on a free, who would we be guaranteeing game time to? the player?

Charlton have a right bargain then and he'll walk straight into their team (might put Bakinson out, though)

If he'd have come here he might have seen himself behind Vaulks, Momo, and Byers.

But at least DR will have been honest with him.

Surely he would've been on front of Byers? Especially with Rohl playing the high press game that Byers seems to be struggling with a tad?

At least we have manager who has an eye for the players he wants for the type of tactics he's employing.

Yet there was talk of Byers leaving, (briefly), before the player nixed it. Coventry can't have had much self belief here if competition is the reason.

According to " stalk " it was because we could not agree a sell on fee percentage . West Ham wanted 50%
