Never been a penalty against the young lad

Agree with both of you. But, how fucking crap have England been in that first 45 minutes? Southgate prematch quoted as saying "I want England to be number one in the world". Well, Gareth, playing like that you've no fucking chance

Based on our squad, growing experience of tournament football and team and manager record with England

Went backwards between 2018 & 2022 World cups.

Will do same at Euros.

We have a group of players that a decent coaching set up could have replicated France and Spain at their best and won Euros / World cups in same 'phase'.

England simply don't have that and until he goes we'll get nowhere.

Explain what you saw in playing Trent cente mid instead of James Ward Prowse (for example) and how a 1-1 draw with North Macedonia is a potent for future success.

And how did Italy get on in Qatar?

A very odd mix of displays.

Some bad, some poor and some good performances. And some really bad refereeing.

We should be walloping teams like that, didn’t create enough and in terms of attacking threat only Foden looked capable. Grealish, Saka and Maguire were just plain bad.

Felt sorry for TAA because he was told to fill the gaps that were being left by Saka and Walker, which stifled that right foot of his. I do like Rico Lewis, he’s another who will be a superstar, his reading of the game is exceptional… but, we need to get a left back fit.

I think we have a new issue.

Southgate has adopted a system that we all know will work. He’s now utilising players in what we would class as their best positions. He can go for it and play Bellingham next to Rice or play him behind Kane. He’s got his idea of who is wide forwards are and he’s accepted that Foden has to play somewhere in that three behind Kane…

But… we have a problem at centre half. Stones is now picking up knocks every other week, and that leaves a load of centre halves who can’t face a team that presses and are not willing to defend high up the pitch. Dunk can do it but isn’t the most mobile, Colwill needs games at centre half. I will never be convinced by Tomori despite the hype.

Problem Southgate has is what if Bellingham and Kane both pick up injuries that take them out of that system.

Watkins and Wilson can't play the same role as Kane and Rashford can't. The closest you're going to get is Toney but I doubt he'd get picked.

So Southgate would have to change system and these last two matches, with Bellingham being injured, would have been an ideal opportunity to try out different things. Watkins is Vardyesque in his ability to break a line and run on so play to that. Or ignore a recognised striker and play an interchangeable 3 like City did before Haaland's arrival. Boden and Grealish would be used to playing that.

Instead Southgate sticks to the same ideas expecting Watkins to be Kane and dragging him for Kane when it doesn't work.

If you want a laugh look at the highlights of the Notts County game and their defending. Makes us look competent

I was there last night. Shrewsbury were never in it, in open play, and needed the gifts that County gave them. But they were shocking slips.

For some reason County also fielded a weakened team. I know they had a hard game against Crawley on Tuesday but Williams wouldn't have turned that team out if it had been a league game.

Another misjudgement from a manager as they had a great chance to get into the 3rd round as Shrewsbury were there for the taking.

Preston somehow 8th and looked bloody awful, as did the pitch

Lets be reyt we werent brilliant against PNE but it it was harsh on the team we lost that fixture.

Said already, this league isnt stuffed with top quality, but there are a few teams and players that are difficult to beat. A decent Championship quality striker that can get 15-20 goals and we would be comfortable. I mean apart from the fact that XM was clueless, DR could have us in touch with the Huddersfield if hed started the season depsite our poor signing/ squad.

I had us in the laptop and the pigs on the TV.

They are toss, Burnley should have got 9 or 10. This pigs team don’t have one player good enough for the division. No pace, no power, no physicality, and no players with nouse. Burnley rolled them today and barely broke sweat.

It’s worth adding, the pigs net spend was about 60 million, and they have around a 40 million quid wage bill. They don’t have anything in the way of a crown jewel to sell.

@KrolMong just seen the stupid antics of McBurnie....

Oh and how is the Lech Poznan game being played on that pitch?

He should have got two straight reds. He threw the elbow at O’Shea earlier and got booked when it was a red. And then did it again.

Lech are playing in Kielce, which is in the south of Poland and it’s literally not stopped snowing this week. Conditions are horrific down there at the minute. Plus it’s -7.

Wait while they implement AI VAR which can't be far away surely. Would certainly stop the waiting around for the offside decisions, when they overcome the teething problems although they'll probably run it side by side with the humans to prove it first.

As long as the AI VAR knows his left from right....

Champions League already has AI offsides
