24/25 Wednesday transfer thread

Given that we have two proper 6’s, and then an 8. Bannan should be removed from the box to box duties and played behind the striker in that front three, and he fights for that position with McNeill and Windass.

There is a real chance that if we are still looking at a midfield player, it will be a box to box type. And Rohl clearly fancies a 9 and maybe a centre half.

Watched DR's interview tonight after the game. He was asked about more incomings, he's got that glint in his eye again. Great to get Charles in but I'd love a quality CB if there's any going as well.

I really liked his interview. I don’t think we’ve had a manager so clear on what he wants and expects, probably as far back as Sturrock and maybe Meggo.

Rohl has a clear plan on his team will play, the type of player he wants and he accepts it’s a learning curve.

Agree completely, not only that, but also how he talks about the not jumping to conclusions stuff. Hes so right

He, unlike a lot of fans, knows it's not a process we can do overnight and we need to be patient to transform the club from the youth levels to the first team, it is about finding a playing style and sticking with the principles until they work or you have to change.

Cadamarteri loan to Lincoln confirmed

Good experience for him and Lincoln generally play decent football, well certainly the last couple of years.

Be no point loaning him out to a pub team.

Looks like Michael Smith could be the next to go, if reading between the lines about DR and him having a conversation and him then not being in the lineup as planned last night.

If he went, it would suggest we have at least one forward lined up to come in.

I sort of understand in that scenario, if you only have say 2 to 3 years left at a professional level then you may want to actually get game time.

Clearly had plenty who rocked up just for the cash, but I like to think some still enjoy playing the game

On paper he has prem experience etc and doesn’t look bad but he’s horrendous.

Awful attitude and didnt he have a season at united? Would rather not sign a CB than have him

Rumour is he failed a medical at Lyon yesterday which is why he's back on the market.

Everton want him off the wage bill even though he's been in all 3 matchday squads because of their injury crisis

So Ben King's lea-ving Accrington to join us.

Just hope he's more Don Logan than Gandhi when it comes to defending set piece training

If he's rubbish he can come and Stand by Me

Rather have Perry Mason

And if it's him or Palmer at centre half? Because if we don't sign a CB Palmer will have to play there at some point this season.

Do you rate Ben King as a set piece specialist @Tylluan

Danny has seen something in him to bring him in but it's hard to say. He does some great analysis pieces and spent a lot of time as a video analyst before taking up Accrington's academy role. But he's not really had much hands on experience as a specialist training ground coach. It may be that he does the enhanced video stuff, makes  recommendations, and the others coach it through

Bit of an odd end to the window given the talk about us being sexier in the loan market. Having got to preferred bidder status with O’Mahoney and looking for impact players. Seems it was part of our strategy that we have either failed to get what we wanted or moved away from as a few clubs have got loans in that I thought might match out profile. Nat Phillips, Ben Nelson, George Edmundson etc have ended up on loan and may have been handy to come in for Diaby.

Overall though 11 players coming in and a decent window to improve the squad in most areas.

And - let's not forget - some useful ones gone out: permanent and on loan.

We've shed some weak members of the playing staff in the main and brought the average down, nowt to mump about.

Useful to have got rid of, meant above: the likes of Wilkes. Plus our investments in the future: like Cadz, Maltby.

If any of our fans are complaining about this transfer window then seriously WTF.

I have just scanned some of the last minute deals and apart from the odd name it's a game of guess who. Of course the odd one will be a success, the rest will barely register and quietly disappear.

Deadline day is so different now, even Newcastle couldn’t get anyone with the spending restrictions. Mainly about young lads getting into the PLB Championship that they have created by stealth. Only really Birmingham have been partying like it’s 2013 and they seem to have forgotten P&S will apply to them as soon as they come up.

Another cb would have been good as it’s been a weakness since this time last year but I think there may be some free agents that we could look at if needed.

There’s more than enough in this squad to get us in and around the top 12.

Yes, another striker would have been nice, as would have been a centre half. But I do know the staff really rate Otegbayo, who will be in and around. And Fusire will be knocking on the door in midfield.

We have more than enough. And it gives us some swing room in Jan.

True it would be good if we end up looking relatively “safe” to start playing some of the younger players if we do rate them. Even in L1 it’s difficult when you need to win each week just to maintain pace at the top
